all about style on chum fm

March 01, 2011

I was on CHUM FM (104.5 in the Toronto area) on the All About Style segment - Thursday morning, March 3rd talking about Spring Colour! I always have a good laugh with Marilyn and Darren (Roger was on holiday) - have a listen but beware: there’s some talk about faking orchids.

Recently I did a radio interview with Cheryll Gillespie and Sam Shakura for their show AT HOME on corus radio - www.630ched.com. Have a listen:

cityline appearance

February 18, 2011

Check out cityline next Thursday, February 24th at 9:00am and 2:00pm and various other times outside of Toronto. We had lots of fun dressing a fairly neutral living room set-up in beautiful new cobistyle furnishings and accessories. The neutrals (which are all cobistyle too, by the way) just pop when you add the fresh spring colours!

s&c halloween special

October 20, 2010

Be sure to tune into the CBC at 2:00pm on Friday, October 29th - we had a great time taping the Halloween special. I don’t want to give away any clues on our costumes - you’ve got to see it to believe it - but here’s one idea I presented and it’s as easy as pumpkin pie!
Fishnet knee highs (or stocking) over little pumpkins - who knew!
The really looked cute!

The show is on every day at 2:00pm on the CBC - here’s a live link to this episode: decorating with motif’s and how to give your home curb appeal.

And here’s a link to the episode that aired on September 20th about decorating a landing in your house and creating a memory wall. Enjoy!

chatelaine magazine feature

September 22, 2010

Check out my kitchen in the October 2010 issue of Chatelaine.

It’s on pages 210 - 213 and if you read it, you get the added bonus of learning my age!

The story is loosely based on ‘kitchens for different ages’. Since it ends at the “50’s” my sister-in-law tells me she has decided that means she won’t need a kitchen at age 60 and can eat out every night. Sounds like we finally something to look forward to! Thanks Chatelaine!

Steven & Chris show

April 22, 2010

As I mentioned last week, I was on the Steven & Chris show on April 13th - what a hoot! The guys are so lovely and a blast to work with. Here’s the segment I was on - just click here: “How to Express your Character in your Home” .

Paint chips are personal
Jennifer Wilson-Speedy
YOURHOME.CA EDITOR

Trends are fun but the new decor movement is personal, says Cobi Ladner (www.cobistyle.com), former editor of Canadian House & Home.

It’s time to “get happy with interiors rather than following dictation,” says Ladner, who will be speaking at the Interior Design Show (www.interiordesign show.com), Jan. 21 to 24.

She says the past century was spent defining the rules and schools that helped us understand good design, which led to a lot of cookie- cutter spaces.

Now, design “is going to be about bringing out ourselves in our interiors,” she says, citing the movement toward customizing everything else in our lives, from cellphone ring tones to play lists.

If something you love happens to be on trend, it’s a great time to pick it up, says Ladner, but don’t paint a turquoise wall if you don’t love the hue.

“Heritage, passion, interest make our interiors really rise to the top,” she adds. “There’s a place for trends, but your home should bring you a little deeper joy than that.”

gearing up for the Interior Design Show

Lots of preparations going on for IDS. The show runs from Jan 21-24 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, and I’ll be speaking on Trade Day (Friday) doing a “Pecha Kucha” presentation, as well as a Trend Talk Workshop on Saturday at 1:00. For those of you who don’t know what Pecha Kucha is (myself included until I was asked to do this presentation), it’s an exciting, fast-paced presentation format that draws it’s name from a Japanese term for the sound of conversation (“chit-chat”). Presenters have a brief 6 minutes and 40 seconds to showcase their projects, ideas and creative design concepts as inspired by the theme “GOOD IDEAS”. Pecha Kucha Night started in Japan in 2003 and now occurs in over 230 locations globally. It should be challenging, but it looks like fun. For more information, click here.

For a sneak peek at special features, speakers & programming, have a look at the videos. I have something to say in the launch video
