Here’s a personal and unique gift idea that uses the imagination. WordsStock Photography is a business built on framed photos of “letters”. I put “letters” in quotes because they’re actually photographs of other things representing letters….
Owner Barbara Rowlandson explains that ‘letter-hunting’ has long been a popular exercise amongst amateur photographers - who knew? She took it up in 2006 as a way of teaching her young children the alphabet. Finding letters was a fun outing for the whole family, and before long she had a solid collection of photographs representing the entire alphabet.
As it turned out, people loved spelling names with her photographs and she kept expanding the collection, building themes within her body of work (nature, architecture, whimsy, etc.) and in 2008 she opened her first wholesale account and hasn’t looked back since.
WordsStock letters are printed on heavy acid-free card stock using only carbon-black dry ink that will never fade. They’re framed in Canadian-made black frames that accommodate between 3-9 photographs, and are perfect for spelling custom photo-words.
The fun part is going on her site and choosing your letters to spell the word you want - the combination’s are endless. Prices range from $40 (3 letters) to $90 (8 letters) with sizes ranging from 11-13” H and between 17”- 42” L.
Barbara has a great offer for clubcobi members: A Free gift with purchase until December 31st (while quantities last): a double-sided silver-plated letter photo charm of the letter of your choice!
