08.08.11 down-home inspiration
I grew up listening to country music. It’s not something I brag much about, in fact, on more than one occasion I’ve found myself rolling up the car windows so as not to give my secret away. The heart breakers always get me, but generally I just love the story telling…any fool can make a baby, it takes a man to raise a child…(sing it with a country twang and your eyes closed to get the full affect).
There are often interesting references of ‘the home’ too and I don’t just mean…who’s bed have your boots been under?…kinda stuff. But real life drama…All the lights in the house are on, in case you ever get tired of being gone… (I know, not exactly energy efficient).
If it’s not about home, then it’s about gettin’ home…18 wheels and a dozen roses… Or leavin’ home… I’ve got a mustang, it does 80, you don’t have to be my baby, I’ve stirred my last pot of gravy… And it doesn’t gloss over the tough stuff, like finances…it woulda been cheaperr to keep ‘err around.
In my experience, you can never be a snob about where you find ideas or inspiration, and I’ve often thought I do a lot of my best thinkin’ behind the wheel - hey, does that sound like a country song? I mean what’s the difference between my theory on decorating and Willie Nelson’s words…that chair is just a chair when you’re not in it, it takes more than rooms and chairs to make a home….(other than a few million bucks).

from my studioI love blue and white porcelain paired with natural rattan. The authentic, neutral handle tempers this perky little teapot to create an exotic yet familiar blend that’s just right for afternoon tea. It also happens to look great with flowers in it.
