music to my livingroom
My daughter became a teenager over the weekend. She loves anything to do with the arts but particularly music. Her main birthday gift is a piano (her little keyboard just ain’t cuttin’ it any more).
As I’ve been trying to figure out where to fit a piano into our home - I started to look online for inspiration. Of course the best inspiration comes from a grand…

And although our living room housed a ‘grand’ when we purchased the house.

I managed to fill up the room with furnishings so that the only realistic option is an upright upright (for the pocketbook too).

I expected most pianos to be black…

Or dark wood…

But on a quick search, I found every colour of the rainbow.
Yellow…

Turquoise…

Red…

Pale blue…

Green…

Cream…

So many ideas, my ears are ringing. I will post a picture of our purchase once we have it and hope that you will all say, “Bravo!”

Isn’t it wonderful to have a daughter whos enjoyment comes from something as wonderful and creative as music! My eldest just became a teenager and he is quite a good violinist. I envy his ability and this wonderful pastime! I would recommend speaking with a tuner to see what instrument is best, if you have not already purchased one! Enjoy your piano hunt!
Thanks to both of you for great advice. I will take it to heart as we search for one that sings to us!
What a lovely idea for your daughters’ birthday. Beats a set of drums! I think a white piano would be ideal. It would blend in with all the gorgeous colour you love so much.
Don’t forget to check the weight of the piano!
Sometimes they can be so heavy that they need support down in the basement.
